To print full-size proofs or progress comps, tile your document with multiple sheets of smaller paper as follows:
There are a few different ways:
Auto
1 in the print dialogue box, in setup check the tile box, choose auto.
2 change the overlap value and watch the preview to the left to see how it will fit together and minimize use of paper and make less “parts” for you to have to assemble
Manual
1 in the print dialogue box, in setup check the tile box, choose manual.
2 This way InDesign will print only one page each time based on where you place the
zero-zero marker from the corners of your ruler [that will be the upper left corner of the sheet, click and drag to reposition] This is beneficial if you are wanting to avoid having an edge go through a critical area like a body of small type for example.
Either way you chose, make sure the page orientation is correct [landscape vs. portrait] in the setup screen of the print dialogue box,
