Week 5
Th: project 3 type investigations/digital comps due

Week 6
Tu: project 3 due at 8am. (and sketchbook)
If you are still printing, gluing, etc. when I arrive, your project is late and graded down by one full lettergrade.
start project 4

Th: have multiple images chosen
project 4 initial thumbnails sketches due [spreads]
[min. 20 of each image/spread]
> consider at least 4 different letterforms for each image/spread,
in each one using different placement and scale/size to reveal othe
r
complementary forms in the photograph.


NOTE:
• digital files: files should be minimum 150 dpi at 100% size [8 x 8"]
[set your camera on the best quality resolution.]

Week 7
project 4 roughs
> these can be digital or some mix of digital and sketched,
but tighter and larger than thumbnails (print out image spreads and draw in other elements)
> have your related copy/quote chosen
> also consider options of each in which you use the letterform to draw an addition to the photograph, thereby generating a letterform [this makes the spread mor
e active]. in other words, you only see part of the letterform in the image but it is visually continued on the next page with the remainder of the letterform. use an alternate image if necessary. {see sample.}

group crit / desk crits if time
> use all required elements and show evidence of use of a basic grid system (alignment) and logical directional 'flow' in the layout
> you should still have many multiple variations of each [these can be slight variations]
• hard copies/prints: image should be at least 50% of final size [7.5 x 7.5"]
